Dragons’ Den Entrepreneurs go from strength to strength

In May 2006, Daren Duraidi and Richard Lee appeared on the BBC2 hit television show Dragons’ Den, seeking investment in their small company Dr Cap.


Dr Cap specialises in urban baseball caps, specifically New Era 59Fifty Hats. One of the dragons could see the potential in the business and offered the young entrepreneurs £150,000.


Since then, Dr Cap has gone from strength to strength thanks to the continued success of the shop based in Leicester and the launch of the Dr Cap website in December 2008.


The website proved an instant hit with New Era Cap fans all over the UK, so much so that the site will soon be expanding to provide an even greater range of New Era Hats, as well as offering New Era and NBA accessories.


Not only that, but Dr Cap will soon be delivering to European destinations, allowing fans of 59Fifty Caps across Europe to benefit. Says Daren Duraidi,


“We’ve had a number of emails from visitors who’ve found a 59Fifty hat on the site but haven’t been able to buy it because they live outside the UK. We were planning to expand into Europe in the near future, but we bought it forward in response to our customers’ needs. Watch this space!”


So from budding entrepreneurs to successful company owners, Daren and Richard have come a long way since their appearance on Dragons’ Den.

Dr Cap Website Launched

Britain’s largest independent stockist of New Era Caps has launched a much-anticipated website.

Set up in 2004 by Daren Duraidi and business partner Richard Lee, the adventure started in the Shires shopping centre in Leicester. After a trial period, Dr Cap moved to a new permanent home in St Peters Lane, Leicester, and opened its doors on 17th December 2005.

The shop proved to be a great success, so the next natural step for the business was to go online to enable everyone in the country to take advantage of Dr Cap’s great products at great prices.

Of the launch, Daren Duraidi said:

“Business has gone from strength to strength since our appearance on Dragon’s Den, so I’m delighted that the Dr Cap site is ready to launch. It will be integral in driving the business forward and I look forward to seeing the public’s reaction”.

Marc Brigginshaw has been leading the project over the past six months. He said: “The site has been designed to make buying the right New Era Cap quick and easy, whether you know the name of the cap or whether you just want inspiration.
